Cannot access my ReadyNAS NV+

I have a ReadyNAS NV+ with 4 2-TB drives that has been working beautifully for years on my home network. Last week I used FrontView to power down my NV+ so that I could bring it with me on an extended vacation. This morning I plugged in the power and connected it to a router that my laptop was also connected to. I powered up the NV+ and it booted up, ultimately showing four green lights and a solid blue light, its IP address and free space available. On my laptop I launched RAIDar and it showed my NV+ with all green lights. But that's as far as it goes.

When I click RAIDar's [Setup] button, I get "connection timed out". When I click RAIDar's [Browse] button, RAIDar seemingly locks up, but ultimately gives a network error. When I click the [Locate] button, it tells me the lights are blinking, but nothing is happening on the front of the device.

When I try to browse my shares through Windows Explorer, the device isn't showing up on my network and my previously mapped drives won't reconnect.

What do I need to do to access my NV+? Thanks for any assistance!

  • is the IP address shoeing in RAIDar in the same range as the IP address of your computer? If it isn't you could try changing the IP on your computer or do an OS reinstall on your ReadyNAS.
  • As far as I can tell, it's within the same range. I am able to access the Internet ;-)

What's involved in an OS-reinstall? And why would that be necessary? The only thing that has changed is that I'm trying to access it through a different router :~/
  • The OS reinstall resets the network settings and admin password. The link in my previous post shows how to do it. Changing routers can cause the IP address to be out of range of your current network if you set a static IP on your ReadyNAS.
  • Thanks! I think I'll just wait until I get home; I don't feel like having to do this twice...
  • If you don't do it now, it should work perfectly fine when you get home. If you do it now, you should be able to set it to obtain it's IF address automatically which would prevent you from needing to do it a second time when you get home.
  • Appreciate the guidance. One more question: since I can't power down with FrontView, how do I turn it off? I've always been afraid of the power button.
  • You can depress the power button on the front of the ReadyNAS for about 5 secs until the disk LEDs start blinking, and then release. The shutdown process will take about 10 secs or so.
