Cannot Access NAS from Windows 7 anymore
Firts, Please be kind. First time I have had any problems with the NAS and first post on this forum.
Secondly I am not into network speak so I may give information that you may find of little use
OK. I have a ReadyNAS Duo which up until now has been working perfectly from the day it came out of its box. I use it as my music server for my house. I rip from CD to PC then copy to NAS using windows 7 Explorer, Perfect.
After a long ripping session I was about to set of the transfer to NAS when I was presented with the error that ' Windows cannot access \\NAS-XXXX-XXXX'
I ran diagnostics and it reported the issue
'The remote device or resource won't accept the connection
The device or resource (NAS-XXXXX-XXXXX) is not set up to accept connections on port "The File and printer sharing (SMB)".
Under Network in Windows Explorer. My main PC is shown and the Nas appears and then dissapears, then may come back or not. The Nas always shows up as a Media device and a storage device. My music server software can see, and use, all the content on the \media share
The ONLY change to the network in recent days was replacing my router from an older Netgear to a new D-Link. I tried swapping back but get the same error.
Please help as I have hundreds of CD's ripped to this Nas and will take a LARGE investment in time to replace.
Thanks in advance and if you need anymore information please do not hesitate to ask

- smiggy666AspirantHi All
Right. First of all I tried to do an update to 4.1.7 but after a reboot RAIDar still shows 4.1.6. So I carried on and, with everything crossed, I plucked up the courage to do an OS firmware re-install. My first major panic after this was completed was that frontend did not work, graphics all screwed up but might be something to do with Firefox. but at lease now I can access the share folders via Windows explorer so a result.
Thanks for eveyone for all your help and support. - smiggy666AspirantHi All.
OK, Still have access via Windows 7 Explorer. But Frontview is totally screwed up. Is there a way to re-install.
I tried to post a picture but could not figure out how to.. - dbott67GuideA few things:
1. Try clearing your cache and restarting the browser.
2. Try a different browser (i.e. Chrome).
For posting images you can use a free image hosting service like stashbox.org. Just upload the pic, paste the URL into the post and put IMG tags around the image:[img]http://stashbox.org/img/toidz34.png[/img]

- smiggy666AspirantHi dbott67.
Cleared my browser cache and restarted, also tried using Windows IE8 with the same result. Thanks for the info on posting an image. Here is what I get when I connect to the Nas by //192.168.0.12/admin after loging in...
- dbott67GuideEgads! Not sure what's causing that. You'll probably have to contact support (there's an e-mail link in my sig) and have them remote into the system.
- mr_duoAspirantNot to confuse one person's issue with another, I am still having trouble logging in to my NAS Duo. I have tried multiple computers, browsers and have rebooted my computers and still can't log in. Raidar sees the drive, but when I try and go to Setup, IE says it cannot display the web page. When i click on Diagnose Connection Problems, I eventually get the message "the remote device or resource won't accept the connection". Any help?

Did you try the advice given by dbott67 and papabear and try a firmware re-installation, follow the instruction on dbott67 thread, it worked for me. Now if I can only get frontview to work again. dbott67 I think are right, it will have to be a support question. If I hear anything I will post and let you know but any other ideas in the meantime would be appreciated. Is there anyway, apart from within frontview, to carry out an update, remember not heavily into code so spell it out. :? - mr_duoAspirantI haven't tried that yet as I was hoping there was another way around this. I haven't changed any settings on the server, plus, as I mentioned in my first post, I have 2 machines and can't access either of htem. Seems unlikely that something changed without my knowledge on both machines simultaneously. Oh and of course there's the laziness factor - both devices are up on a high shelf in the basement...
- Tomaso1Aspirantjust had the same problem - happened after I had shut down the drive (from Frontview) and all the network devices, to move all the kit safely. Then afterwards I was daft enough to just flip the wall switch to start everything at once. Of course I had to start the ReadyNAS separately, but (because of other symptoms in my sound system) I think my network problem probably originated in 2 of the other devices having got tangled.
Solved with a restart from Frontview/system/shutdown/shutdown and reboot the device (running Win 7, Raidiator 4.1.8) - racefan99AspirantI am having the same problem with two computers running w7 ultimate 64 and 1 computer running w7 home premium 64 but not on the computer running w7 home premium 32. this is a recent problem, all of the w7 64 machines were working just fine and then they all failed to recognize xp machines and the nas at about the same time. (windows update?)
