Cannot access shares after power outage

Hi,
I have had my ReadyNAS Duo v1 for 6 years with no problems. Last week I couldnt access one of the shares and I found it was turned off.
After powering it up, I still couldnt connect to the shares. I removed disk #1 and tested it using a docking station and WD Data Lifeguard Dignostic Tool. Acording to Lifeguard, the disk #1 is fine, but I don't know whether my data is still there. Using ext2fsd I can see the 3 partitions on the disk, but I don't know how to access the data partition. I dont have backups...

I powered-up the ReadyNAS with only disk#2. RAIDar says Status is Healthy, but I still cannot access the shares. The FAN is working at full throttle. When trying to open the Admin Page I get a pop-up window saying "System Error: Please contact customer support".
After a while, in RAIDar status changed to "C: RAID Level X, ; 546GB(59%) 925GB", but I still couldn't access the shares.

I then powered down the NAS, took out DISK#2, tested it with Lifeguard (also PASSED), inserted only DISK#1 and powered-up the NAS.

Now Frontview opens up, the password is the same (not default), the Share Listing is correct, but Volume Settings says "0 MB (0%) of 0 MB used". RAIDar still says "C: RAID Level X, ; 546GB(59%) 925GB"...

Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to get the NAS working again?

Many thanks!

Kind Regards,
Rui

      Hi StephenB,

      Thanks for your reply!

I followed your sugestion and installed linux-reader. It can read the disk 1, and the share directory structure is there.

While some of the data is there (the older files than I have a backup of...), most of the files are gone, linux-reader says "There are no recoverable files in this folder"...

      Any suggestions?

      Thanks

      Regards,

      Rui

The lost data is likely a result of the unexpected power cut.  You might need a recovery service to get it back.  Seagate offers one, as does Netgear.  Western Digital doesn't offer their own, but there are partners listed on their web site.

There are tools you can buy if you want to attempt the recovery yourself.  But I haven't done this myself, so I have no recommendations.
