Cannot connect to ReadyNas Duo from Finder / Frontview behaving strangely

I cannot connect to my ReadyNas Duo after a powercut caused an inproper shutdown. The series of events are as follows:-

1) Power outage leading to improper shutdown
2) Sync activity started
3) Loss of file shares from the network
4) Strange behavior of Frontview with zero capacity usage, failure to see either disk and lack of SMART response

Any advise would be greatly apprechiated

If you don't need the data, then just do a factory reset and rebuild the NAS.

Assuming you need to get the data off the duo:

It's likely there is file system corruption - if so you will need data recovery.

You can try connecting disk 1 to a windows PC, and see if r-linux for windows can access the data.  If that fails you could either contract with Netgear for data recovery, or try third party software (such as ReclaiMe)

      Many thanks for the reply.

Currently the ReadyNas is running and I can hear what I think is the fan working (it's been like that for 2 days now). Is it worth leaving it on in case it is doing something constructive? On the front of the unit I have 2 green lights showing for the disks, however I cannot see what it is actually doing, if anything, without Frontview being operational.

What is strange is I did not get any warnings from the ReadyNas that something had gone wrong. In fact the only messages that came from it were that there was an inproper shutdown, RAID sync and a disk useage warning, all just after the power cut. Also why is Frontview now showing the correct information about the unit and not able to control it?

Any ideas what the problem has occurred with the ReadyNAS and Frontview will be greatly apprechiated? It seems like a major issue to be caused by a simple power cut, as it seems like I will have to recover the data stored on it somehow now.

I doubt it is doing anything constructive after two days. I'd try r-linux for windows next.

You can sometimes get file system corruption if the power is cut when disk writes are pending.
