Cannot uninstall or upgrade Squeezebox on ReadyNAS Duo v1

The dreaded "Invalid checksum detected in the update file. update aborted".
I am experiencing this exact same problem
"LMS v7.7.2 uninstalled OK, and after re-booting the ReadyNAS, I tried to re-install LMS v7.7.2 again, using the same file as the original installation. The file verification passed OK, but when I proceeded with perform system update it failed with the pop-up message "invalid checksum detected in the update file. update aborted"."
Mine is a Netgear NAS Duo. I was able to install "logitechmediaserver-7.7.2-sparc-readynas.bin" successfully in the past. I recently chose to install the 7.7.3 version because my LMS had become very unstable (dropping connections to the server, disconnecting from the server with increasing frequency while playing from my SB and SBP, both wired to the router). I have done the usual clean up, wipe clean the previous version steps. When I tried to re-installed (local), it said that file was ok, but then when I tried to run the update, i got the same pop-up message "invalid checksum detected in the update file. update aborted".
Have anyone of you found a solution for this problem (short of a factory reset)?
