Can't connect to SSH/Frontview on NV+ after upgrade FW 4.1.8

The NAS should always accept SSH connections after the normal boot process if SSH is enabled. Sounds like your use of SSH has caused the problem.
Depending on what you did NetGear support may be able to undo the damage but a fee would be involved.
