Change static ip address of ReadyNAS Duo?
I recently moved my ReadyNAS Duo from my network at home to another network and I can't access it from FrontView or USB. I noticed in Raidar that the readynas has the same IP address as it had at the old location but it won't change to a new number automatically. I think i must have changed the IP to fixed but now I can't access it so I can't change it.
Is there a way of accessing the nas to access content via USB or can I alter the IP somehow to a dynamic/DHCP address? I would really appreciate an answer on Christmas Eve, thanks :)

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredI presume you have the Duo v1 (runs RAIDiator 4.1.x) not the new Duo v2 (released Nov 13th 2011 and runs RAIDiator 5.3.x)?
EIther do a OS Re-install (http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how_do_i_use_the_boot_menu), which resets the network settings and leaves data intact (you turn NAS off, then once it has shutdown press and hold reset button, turn NAS on, continue to hold reset button and release reset button after about 5 seconds - first blink of disk LEDs)
Or, do a direct-connection (http://sphardy.com/web/directconnect), change the IP address on your PC to be in the same range as the NAS (subnet mask will most likely need to be the standard 255.255.255.0) and then login to Frontview and reset the NAS's network settings to pickup an IP address via DHCP.
It's already Christmas Day in some places down here, I should get some sleep. - NibinaearAspirantWow thanks. The ReadyNAS is RND2000 v2. I'll look into those options and then post back. Merry Christmas.
- NibinaearAspirantOk, I tried to configure the router to a new ip address but the router we have won't let me do it. So my nas is using:
192.168.0.100
And our router is using:
192.168.1.254
It won't accept a change to 192.168.0.x so that option is out. I'll look into an OS reset but it seems drastic. I only really want to copy a couple of films off to watch at home on Christmas. - StephenBGuru - Experienced User
What you need to do is temporarily reset the PC NIC card (NOT the router) to use static address. Use a mask of 255.255.255.0 and a static IP of 192.168.0.1, and you will be able to connect to the NAS. After you reset the NAS, revert back to the automatic address assignment on the PC nic card.Nibinaear wrote: Ok, I tried to configure the router to a new ip address but the router we have won't let me do it. Resync 4% complete. Time to finish 256hrs 39mins! By then it will be a different year! Will it really take this long? I really hope moving it hasn't deleted all my data. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThe early estimates tend to overestimate the time a resync will take. Leave it to run.
I'd be surprised if you had the Duo v2 as some of your earlier posts indicate you purchased your ReadyNAS well before Nov 13th 2011 (when the new Duo v2 was released). - NibinaearAspirant

It now says 9hrs, but why is it doing this? I can't see why it needs a 9hr resync just because it's on a new network.mdgm wrote: I'd be surprised if you had the Duo v2 as some of your earlier posts indicate you purchased your ReadyNAS well before Nov 13th 2011 (when the new Duo v2 was released).
I've had the NAS for about a year now. It says, "ReadyNAS is RND2000 v2" on it. I don't know if this is the same v1/v2 you are talking about. - NibinaearAspirantUpdate: Hi again. After a 9hr resync operation the nas finished resyncing and then resynced again! It's now telling me it's going to take another 256hrs! (9hrs). Why is it doing this?
- NibinaearAspirantFinal Update: The 9hr additional resync never took place and everything is working again. Thanks for the help everyone.
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredGood to hear. You have the Duo v1 (RND2000-100) is a Sparc ReadyNAS running RAIDiator 4.1.x with a web-interface like http://www.readynas.com/simulators/frontview/. The Duo v2 (RND2000-200) is an ARM ReadyNAS that runs RAIDiator 5.3.x and has a new dashboard web-interface.
The RND2000 v2 was a minor update to the Duo v1 with new network hardware due to limited supply of the network hardware previously used.chirpa wrote: The only difference is the network PHY, which was changed due to short supply of the original.
It is a bit confusing that the RND2000 v2 is a Duo v1.
