Changing the admin password causes ReadyNAS admin page to constantly reload
I attempted to change my admin password today. It caused the Admin Page to go into a constant reload loop.
After changing the admin password I am immediately logged out. I assume this is normal. Pointing a web browser at the admin page results in a user id and password request as usual. The password is accepted and the page loads normally but before I can input any changes it reloads and again requests the password. This happens ad infinitum.
RAIDar shows the NAS as healthy. I was able to download the logs. There is ample space in the OS partition, /dev/md0.
It has been a year at minimum and several OS versions since the last password change. The old password was reasonably complex.
Restarting has no effect.
Logging in with a different browser or a private browser window has no effect. I was careful to make certain nothing else was trying to log into admin page.
Reinstalling the OS seems reset the situation. It is possible to login with the default password and make changes. However any changes from the default password cause the bug again.
The situation appears similar to the one described in this topic. However an OS reinstall does not fix it. The NAS is usuable but I am stuck with the default password.

The following passwords cause chaos:
37 characters:

33 characters:

24 characters, letters and numbers only:

8 characters:

8 letters:

Default:

(Going through the moves of changing the password and entering the default password as the new password still causes the problem.)
Specs:
ReadyNAS RN104
(Yes I know it is end of life. It still works fine. Except for today.)
Firmware 6.10.5
(Latest available for this model)
No extra apps. No cloud connections. It spends most of the time off. Mostly serves files over SMB. HTTP and HTTPS are the only other active services.
After doing an OS Re-install you need to make sure the system has installed the hot-fix before changing the admin password. If your NAS isn't connected to the internet you may want to install the hot-fix manually: https://community.netgear.com/t5/ReadyNAS-Beta/Beta-firmware-broke-web-interface-6-10-5-T11-Beta-1/m-p/2126885#M10947
For the RN104 you need the ARM one.

Thank you!
The beta hotfix seems to have solved this. Everything appears functional. It is asking me for the login credentials twice when I open the admin page but then becomes stable. It still asks for credentials again every so often but this is minor. Everything else seems to work.
For the RN104 the hotfix is not in stable or beta for automatic updates. Downloading it directly worked fine.

The time-out of the admin login was added several OS updates ago. It's a new "feature" (to me, an annoyance) that cannot be disabled. Unfortunately, it will also sometimes jump to the Password Recovery page instead of staying where it belongs, so you have to explicity go back to /admin.
