cifs/smb backup jobs not working on FW 6.9.0
I make a new discussion for this problem as it seems to be another problem that has geek_Alex in thread Very slow copy with SMB which was solved. After installing FW 6.9.0 All my backup jobs ...

Yep, totally similar to this other thread. In my case Backup Jobs from NAS to External USB disk are still OK after 6.8.1 -> 6.9.0, 6.9.0 seems to have affected Backup Jobs having a CIF Share as Source on a Windows host and a CIFS Share as Destination on the NAS only.
Definitely a bug...

if destination is cifs share on Windows, than it is also affected.

Both of you are running Windows 7, correct? It'd be useful to know anyone running Windows 10 is also seeing this.
Also, how is SMB3 transport encryption set on your NAS?

Yes, Win7 Ultimate, SMB3 enabled. Backup of home directories on the same NAS to another share is working.

6.9.0 has a new setting for SMB3 transport encryption. It can be set globally in system->settings->services->SMB, or it can be set share-by-share (share settings wheel->network access->SMB->advanced settings). By default it is enabled but not required.
Have you manually adjusted that setting?

As I mentioned in my 1st post I Tested it to Win 7 AND Win 10 and Server 2003
I did more test:
RN204 to/from share (cifs, Windows/NAS Timestamp) full backup/incremental on client with OS:
Windows 7 Pro x64 - 2PC
Windows 8.1 Pro x64 - 1PC
Windows 10 Pro x64 - 1PC
Windows XP Pro - 1PC
Windows Server 2003 - 1PC
SMB3 encryption on or off - no change.
If I remeber correctly Windows XP/ Server 2003 uses SMB1 (so SMB3 encrytption is on these client irelevant)
All OS above is result the same, seem to independent of version OS (Windows)

In my case Source CIFS Share is on a Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 host.

Hi StephenB,
I am also seeing this problem on a windows 10 PC.
The backup is pulling data from the laptop to an SMB share on the NAS. It worked fine until the 6.9.0 upgrade. The relevant files were backed up correctly; the job just never terminated and I only realised when I saw a warning 24 hours later when the following day's backup said the job was already in progress. Backups from an SMB share to another SMB share appear to work ok.
SMB3 transport encryption is set to 'configure per share' and 'Enabled' within each share. I have not changed these settings.
Thanks,
Mike...

On 6.9.0, see my screenshots above, it seems that, globally for SMB, the SMB3 Transport Encryption is enabled, but on a per-share basis the setting on my Firefox shows up totally blank ("SMB3 Transport Encryption setting IS - apparently - NOT set (blank, not Enabled, not Disabled, not Required...simply blank) on all the NAS's shares my NAS has.")...should I conclude that blank means "Enabled" at least because, globally, for SMB was set so as default on 6.9.0?
It was reported that changing to "Disable" to test how that impact on the backup job issuss has no positive effects...
