Connect Squeezebox to NAS when computer is off
I have a Squeezebox Radio connected to my NasReady. It works fine when my computer is on and when Logitech Media Server is started from there. But when I turn off my computer. I can't access my Nas anymore. I get the message on the display of my Squeezebox (translated from Swedish) "Your computer is not connected to the network or start your Squeeze Server".
I have installed the Squeezebox Server software like this - http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/17012/section/troubleshoot/crid/439/lt_product_id/5847/tabs/1,3,2,5/cl/us,en.
What else can I do to access my Nas while my computer is off? I don't want to start the Squeezebox Server everytime to make it work.
Thankful for any help!
Ola

- vandermerweMasterI am not sure I understand you correctly.
You need Squeezecenter (Logitech Media Server) installed on your readynas, not on your PC - have you done this?
You will of course need to install the x86 version of Squeezecenter (Logitech Media Server) on your Duo v2 - the instruction page you provided a link to has not been updated.
If you also have Squeezecenter (Logitech media Server) installed on your PC, then you may have pointed your SB Radio at this installation, rather than at the readynas installation - you will need to check this in the settings on your SBRadio (music source).
I cannot think of any other reason why you would have this problem other than the fact that you have set up the SB radio to connect to an installation of Squeezecenter (Logitech Media Server) on your PC. - BandolaAspirantHi Vandermerew!
Thank you for your help. I will try to explain. You need Squeezecenter (Logitech Media Server) installed on your readynas, not on your PC - have you done this?
Yes I need to install Squeezecenter on my ReadyNas, that must be the problem. But haven't I done so by following these instructions...?
I have done this: http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/17012/section/troubleshoot/crid/439/lt_product_id/5847/tabs/1,3,2,5/cl/us,en.? What else must I do? Are there other steps (updated files etc) I must follow to complete the installation?
- Is this another installation that I also need to do? Do you know where the updated link/files are?You will of course need to install the x86 version of Squeezecenter (Logitech Media Server) on your Duo v2 - the instruction page you provided a link to has not been updated.
In my Squeezecenter on my PC I point to my NAS. Under the tab "Library" (swedish translation) , media source, I have the path \\mynas\media\music that is wrong? Then what should the correct path be?
Regards,
Ola - vandermerweMasterLogin to your readynas interface, and look at the installed streaming services, Logitech media server should be there.
The x86 I am referring to is the version of LMS that you need to install, you must NOT use the one for the Duo, NV,NV+. The link is there http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/S ... n_ReadyNAS
You will need to configure Squeezecenter on the NAS, usually you need to access this from your PC using the LAN address of your readynas: ipaddressofduo:9000
Once this is configured, you will need to tell your SBradio where to look for squeezecenter - this you will need to do on the actual SBradio itself under settings - sphardy1ApprenticeJust a clarification:
The Duo v2 is an ARM based product and at this time there is no SqueezeboxServer available for it. Therefore, despite the signature, I suspect the OP actually has a Duo v1 which is sparc based, not x86 - BandolaAspirantI have a Duo 2. And went to this page (http://www.mysqueezebox.com/download) and downloaded the version for Duo 2. Is that not correct?
In my Nas interface, streaming services, I have Squeeze center installed. You will need to configure Squeezecenter on the NAS, usually you need to access this from your PC using the LAN address of your readynas: ipaddressofduo:9000
I am not sure how to do this. If you could give me a brief description I would be very happy!
- what does this mean? Can I not run Squeezebox on this version of the NAS??The Duo v2 is an ARM based product and at this time there is no SqueezeboxServer available for it
Thanks for your support!
Ola - sphardy1ApprenticeThere is no such product as a Duo 2
ReadyNAS now has five NAS products with 2 bays- Duo - now starting to be referred to as a Duo v1 and featuring a Sparc architecture processor
- Duo v2 - Released in the past week and based on an ARM processor
- Ultra-2 - x86 based NAS, costs ~2x the Duo but offers significant feature / performance advantages
- Ultra-2 Plus - Same unit as Ultra-2 but with higher spec'ed x86 processor
- Pro 2 - same hardware as Ultra-2 Plus, but with additional business software features and longer warranty
Logitech currently provides a version of SBS for the Sparc and x86 based products, but not (yet) for the ARM based NAS
If you have a Duo and have been able to install SBS from the Logitech site, then you must have the original Duo (ie v1) - BandolaAspirantSorry...
I have a: Netgear ReadyNAS RND2110 1TB 151701.
Makes any sense? - sphardy1ApprenticeYes - that is the v1 product. http://www.netgear.com/home/products/st ... D2110.aspx
Netgear has no information on their website about the v2 yet other than a press announcement: http://www.readynas.com/?p=5983 - BandolaAspirantOk, so in short. What shall I do to make this work?
- sphardy1Apprentice1. Make sure that SBS on your NAS is properly scanning your Music (Path to your music is typically specified as /<share>/folder/storing/your/music - for example /media/Music/mp3 - beware the path is case sensitive)
2. Make sure your player is connected to SBS on the NAS, not the one on your PC
