Copy/move between shares is sloooooooooooow...
I have SSH'd into my 316 and am doing cp and mv's... trying to move a bunch of data from one share to another (/data/share1 to /data/share2).
It's slow. Like, really slow (maybe 90 seconds per GB). Is this a limitation with SMB, BTFRS, Linux, or ReadyNAS? Is this to b expected or are there ways to speed it up?
Thanks,
John

- StephenBGuru - Experienced User(a) moves within a share should always be instant, they are not over the network.
(b) copy/paste are never instant, they are always over the network.
(c) moves between shares are instant only if you are accessing through the C volume. Otherwise they are copied over the network.
I'm not sure exactly how offline file access affects operations like move or delete. And since you aren't enabling that, let's not guess. - Roxy1ApprenticeThanks Steve, you stuck with it and now I fully understand.
And I must say, your break down there should be a sticky in of itself for anyone who may have 'slow transfer speeds with inter and outer shares.'
