Crazy data about folder size
I browsed a CIFS shared folder on a ReadyNAS 3100 and the summary data look like:
Path: \\nasname\foldername
Size: 8.94 GB (9 604 122 967 byte)
Size on disk: 8.62 TB (9 486 257 356 800 byte)
Content 90,468 files 3,661 folders
Given the total available space on the whole NAS is about 8 TB and that the same NAS hosts at least 4 TB of VM in an NFS used as a VMware datastore, the reported data look crazy.
The number of files and folders can be ok, the total size can be ok as well, but the size on disk is simply impossible.
How can I troubleshoot the problem without reinstalling the ReadyNAS?
Regards
marius

What firmware are you running?
- marius_romaAspirant
The firmware is RAIDiator 4.2.22.
If an update is required, can we perform it without deleteing the data?
Is a reboot necessary?
Where an we get the update firmware and the detailed procedure to install it?

There have been some firmware versions where the right-click properties gives the wrong amount of space. I don't recall if that was a problem with 4.2.22 though.
Upgrade to the current production version (4.2.27) and see if the problem resolves. Data is preserved, but it is always a good idea to update your backups before installing firmware or manipulating drives.
