Defrag took free space from 3.51 to 2.01 TB within 1 day. No other files added. Device unresponsive

Defrag took free space from 3.51 to 2.01 TB within 1 day.

Device unresponsive 8 hours after running the degrag process, I had to reset. When it came back online, I notice the free space was at 2.01 when it had been at 3.51 the previous day.

I"m not sure if this is part of the defrag process or if someone else may have added files.

Snapshots are taking 1.4TB, can those be deleted?

I am noticing some performance issues that need to be addressed. I'm not sure what issues the defrag freezing the unit and making it unresponsive is going to do.

Thanks.

Running a defrag breaks the CoW link between current data and snapshots so free space going down is expected. You can delete snapshots if you wish, yes.
