I have what I think is a drive failing, but I cannot locate in the manual what I need to do to replace this drive?
It seems to be Disk 2 but I cannot tell which phsyical drive this is, as in do the numbers start from the right or the left and also do they start Disk 0 to Disk 3 or do they start Disk 1 to Disk 4?
I have attached an image of the Log file, only found this when trying to update the firmware, had not received any e-mails so first that I had heard about it.
Also what is the proceedure to change this disk? again cannot seem to locate a guide to replacing a drive that is faulty, can I do this while the ReadyNAS unit is switched on and working, or do I shut the unit down and replace the drive when the unit is switched off?
Again unsure as to what drive I need to pull from the unit
Any help would be much appreciated...
James

Drives are numbered left to right, and start with 1.
You can confirm this when you remove it, since the serial number is also in the log.
Note you can also download the log zip file and look at disk_info.log.

Thanks for this, I tried to download the log but it would not allow me too, The whole unit is running like a dog and I suppose that this is because of the drive failing. I have now shut down the unit and ordered a replacement, will replace when it arrives in a day or two and hopefully have the drive up and running.,.. Thanks for the info though, VERY much appreciated...

Sorry about the duplicate, but this was not down to me as such, I tried to post it but it did not like the description and would not allow me to post until i changed it, but when I changed the header and it posted I noticed that it had actually posted the original message in the end even though it kept telling me that it could not be posted until i change the header.
Sorry

Have now changed the drive and switched on the device, left for a while and just keeps flashing 'data DEGRADED'
Is this normal?

Are you seeing any messages that is it syncing? Does the volume tab show both drives as part of the array?
Perhaps post a screen shot of your volume tab (you can do that if you see the "photos" icon in the "rich text" toolbar here).
With Windows, you can enter ctrl+print screen (might be labeled PrtSn or something similar) to capture the window. Then you can open paint and enter ctrl-v to paste it. You can crop it if needed, and then save it as a PNG. Then attach the PNG file using the photos icon.

Looks to be working, left it for an hour and come back to see that its at least doing something, hopefully will be up and running by tomorrow...
