Disk 2 fail. I change it but nothing happens!!!

Hello, i have the Readynas Nv+ with 4x2TB disks installed.
2 days ago a disk 2 fail message appears at the screen and today i take a new one.
I pulled out the old failed disk and replaced withh the new one.
After the replacement, nothing happens.
"Disk 2 inserted" is the only message that appears for a few seconds and then nothing.
What else i have to do?
Now the new disk is inserted, but the led No2 is still blinking!!!
Please i need help..
Thanks

  • How i can check the status of my backup? I am not able to connect to Readynas because i have forgot the user name and password.
I will be able to connect via Raidar if my Lan connections are via switch box (because of the network), or i need to connect directly, with the one end of the cable in my pc and the other end in the readynas?
The fail disk and all the other 3 are Seagate and the new one is Western Digital. (it is in the approved list).

PapaBear is simply asking if you have a current backup. If you don't know, then you probably don't.

BTW, the user name you want for Frontview is admin. The default password is netgear1. If you don't remember changing the password you might try that one.
  • Please boot to telnet mode and forward the port 23 to internet, then PM me the remote host address. You also can have a phone to netgear local call center.
  • Hi, thanks for the help.
I make a reset to my ReadyNas and now i am able to login via user name: admin and pass:netgear1.
Now i can see the following:
At Volumes =>Volume Settings, i have RAID Configuration: X-RAID(Expandable RAID), 4 disks.
Status: Not redundant. A disk failure will render this volume dead.
(THE RESYNC VOLUME BUTTON IS GREY AND I CAN'T PRESS IT)!!!

    Also:
    RAID Disks:
    CH1: Seagate ST32000542AS (1862GB) (Green light on)
CH2: WDC WD20EARX-008FB0(1862 GB) (Grey light)
    CH3: Seagate ST32000542AS (1862GB) (Green light on)
    CH4: Seagate ST32000542AS (1862GB) (Green light on)
Also, i removed and pushed in again the disk2 and at Status=>Health, i have "The disk attached to channel2 could not be used. The most common reason are RAID resync in progress, faulty drives and disks that are too small to be added to the array."
What i have to do now?
Please i am in serious problem, bacause i can see now that every day i have growing errors at disk 3.... Now i am at 668 errors.
Olease reply as soon as possible.
    Thanks
  • If more than one disk failed, disk clone is must.
So it is better give a remote access, and we can do further debug.
After that we can give you a pertinent suggestion.
  • My readynas is not connected to internet. But one pc that is in the network, is connected to internet. What i have to do now? Please i need instructions. Thanks
  • You can run the teamviewer and tell me the ID and password. Or phone to netgear call center.
  • I have done a OS reinstall, in order to reset user name and password.
Now i am able to connect to Raidar.
But also after the OS reinstall, i am not able to resync the disk 2.
    The button is grey...
    Now what?
