DLNA/UPnP & MediaItems not syncing

I've seen from other threads that issues with media via DLNA has been ongoing for a number of years - still to be resolved. :werd:

I too am finding duplicate files, as well as ones I can't account for; possibly deleted files. But what I'm specifically noticing when viewing properties via UPnP is that any file in question (still in its original format) is shown to be located at /MediaItems/<filename of 2 to 4 digits>.<original format>. This indicates that a duplicate file is being cached in a hidden directory, not synced, hence duplicates. Despite having ReadyDLNA set to automatically update, I manually rescanned as advised in other threads and some of the issues were sorted, although far from resolved.

I noticed also that metadata in the files in /MediaItems isn't in sync with my proper files. For example, typically Album Artist is placed in the Artist field, leaving Album Artist stating Unknown artist. The Composer field is empty. If there is more than one Artist then only the second is displayed. The metadata inconsistencies sometimes vary slightly, but the inconvenience is as annoying regardless.

Any updates or further insight on these issues welcome!
