Duo v1 do not boot with 2 drives

made a test a few minutes ago:
I have opened the casing on the Bay 2 side and have removed the plug of the chassis fan just for power-up. You won't believe it but the Duo v1 was booting with both drives installed! So StephenB seems to be right.
Can anyone recommend a suitable switching adapter? It seems that the standard 12V-switching adapter ist too weak (output: 5A). Will 6A (90W) be sufficient or do I have to take a 10A-version (100-120W)?
