Duo v1 not booting

We had a power cut. On restoring power the ReadyNAS appeared to start to boot OK and for a brief time responded to a network ping. Then after about two minutes it became unresponsive to a ping. The only lights now on are the power (steady), Disk1 (steady) and Disk2 (flashing). Activity light not on at all but did come on during the initial boot.

I cannot ping it nor can Raidar pick it up.I had loaded the latest firmware 4.1.12 a few months ago.

I have some data I really need to get at, if anyone can help please.

    One option is to use linux reader (http://www.diskinternals.com/linux-reader/). Use disk 1 (it won't read disk 2), and make sure the NAS is powered down when re-inserting. This requires connecting disk 1 to a windows PC (either SATA or through a USB adapter).

    You could also try powering down, and attempt to boot with disk 1 only, or disk 2 only.
  • I hope you do not lose data.
    There is a lot of advice dispensed on the forums about backups, but not as much effort is put into promoting the use of UPS. There are a phenomenal number of problems reported that are associated with power cuts, and it's relatively simple and cheap to prevent these problems.

    Metalguru69, I hope you have a backup, and you will I'm sure now use an UPS.
  • Thanks all. I took out Disk1 and used linux-reader to recover the contents. I also did an OS re-install just using Disk2 and it now seems to be working fine. I am currently making a full copy of the 2TB of data I have and will then re-insert Disk1 to the NAS. New UPS fitted and working :)
