Duo v2 - single disk set up - giving corrupt boot error

Setup:

1X 2TB seagate disk

Not sure how it's set up (RAID0, 5, X-RAID - not sure. But I think I must have used the default).

I had this unit turned off for sometime and powered on a couple of days ago. The network mapping didn't auto connect so I ran the OS reinstall sequence. Still no luck so installed RADar 6.5 to see it's giving boot corrupt.

I ran OS reinstall again while RADar is connected and second time it gave me the set up menu to set up the disk, with the options to use XRAID2, RAID 0,1,5,6 etc. I'm not sure if I set up the disk that would delete everything on the disk and I won't be able to recover anything later.

I took the disk out and tried connecting it via Sata/USB bay and used a few recovery software to view the disk but had no luck. Currently running ReclaiMe  (been running overnight for almost 10hrs now).

Can anyone think of any solutions to recover the data?

THank you!

Unfortunately you did a factory default, and not an OS reinstall.  That formats the disks and does a clean install of the firmware from the flash.

So it did destroy your data.  Odds of recovery are slim.

I guess you could continue to try other RAID recovery tools, and see if they can recover data.  https://www.r-studio.com/ is one option.  Look for versions that you do free downloads (and only pay to recover).

Thank you for your prompt reply.

I'm certain I did the OS install, (selected second LED light). But this device was turned of, powered and my 4yr old was spotted turning it on/off a several times over the last few months. I'm wondering if this did something to it?

Also, at the time I rebooted the device:

      1. The power off button didn't function (two quick clicks, long press nothing worked)

      2. Ping worked, admin page gave rejected message

Well that's for some more background.

Over to the recovery s/w I've been trying.. Tried the main ones without much luck but now i'm after those that mention 'Netgear and XRAID' explicitly. Few that I found are:

      1. ReclaiMe

      2. Hetman recovery

      3. Stellar - (but this one require you to manually reconstruct the raid set up)

Thanks for your suggestion. I'll check out r-studio.

Does anyone know other threads or recovery s/w (try for free) that works on ReadyNas?

The prompt to set up RAID suggests otherwise.  You only get that after the factory default (there is about a 10 minute time window after the factory default begins there RAIDar will let you set the RAID mode).

Anyway, I hope you do find a tool that works.
