Dynamic DNS

Well DDNS often needs a client PC application, since many routers (including many Netgear models) only work with dyndns - which is no longer free.

It would be useful if an add-on in the NAS could take keep the ddns IP address up to date - esp. if the NAS is running 24x7.

So even with the ddns "app" installed it wont update dynamic dns servers for services like noip etc?

Unfortunatly I use a cable modem/router suppled by the ISP so I HAVE to use their router which does not support dynamic IP accounts.

Before I ran a ddns service on my BSD server which basically did the same job as a ddns service running on a router.

sorry I think the app is the DYNdns - which I understand can be configured for other providors

If you do sort out how to use this with noip or another provider, please post back. I'm sure others will be interested.

I'll get on the case this evening. It looks like the plugin should do ddns updates

Changeip.com provide a script for updating a dynamic DNS. The script will run on my Readynas Duo
