Enabling Jumbo Frames breaks Frontview
I have same issues with my ultra 2. After enabling jumbo frames, front view wont finish loading until i do an OS reset. This has happened sometimes and other times it is ok. There have been other...
Also, if you aren't running a gigabit ethernet network you can't use jumbo frames.
ReadyNAS is pretty good at detecting when jumbo frames don't work (and falling back to a normal MTU). However jumbo frames are not in the ethernet standard, and the one reason is that there are cases where that kind of detection fails.
Even when jumbo frames do work, they don't always improve performance - and some users here have found that they hurt performance. The main benefit of jumbo frames is reduction of CPU load (by reducing packets per second). Modern NIC cards have other features which can accomplish that for normal frames (interrupt moderation and offload processing for instance). And if your CPU is fast enough, the reduction isn't needed.
You can possibly try a direct connect to your PC instead of the OS reload. If the issue is in your network (and not the PC) then that should work. It would also help you figure out what the performance boost might be.
If you are seeing other issues (when jumbo frames are turned off) you might want to take advantage of your 90 day phone support. Or post those issues here in separate threads.
