Enter Network Password Problem
When I create a new share on NV+ and then try and access it from my Windows 7 PC, I am asked for Enter Network Password in a windows security popup(enter your password to connect to 192.169.1.70). What user name and password are they asking for? I tried my ready nv+ userid/password and also my windows 7 user and admin userid/password and they all don't work. I keep getting the specified network password is not correct. I can access my backup and media folders without being asked to enter password. My setting for security in frontview is set to Share.
Thanks, Jerry

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserWhat security mode is your system set up for (user or share)?
BTW, what firmware are you running. - jkimmdsAspirantUsing share security and raidiator 4.1.10
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserWith share security the password is whatever you set for the share.
Generally share security is not recommended (as it doesn't always play nicely with many operating systems). You could try switching to user security. - jkimmdsAspirantIn Security/Security Mode of Raidiator i have the Share setting checked and Workgroup: VOLUME is the only option I have under it. In Shares/Share Listing of Raidiator I left the password of the Share Name blank. Still asking me when I try and access any share I make for userid/password.
- ramontgomeryAspirantI'm having the same problem on my NVs and NV+'s after upgrading to .10
I just did a factory install with new hard drives to a trusty NV. Set up for SHARE security for WORKGROUP. I can access the built-in shares Media and Backup - however, I created a new share called LOCAL - with Read-Write for everyone. WHen I try to access it in WIndows 7, I get challenged for a user name and password - and even if I give the admin credentials, I am not given access. Does anyone know what is going on with this?
Rick Montgomery - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserThere have been issues with share security for a while now, which is why Netgear is deprecating it.
- Its a bug.
Set an password in the share list, save.
Remove the password in the sharelist and save again, now you can connect again as guest.- OsceolaAspirant
