Error 714 at DMR
I am using the ReadyDLNA on a ReadyNAS Pro 2 as a DMS and one of two iPad applications (mediaconnect or 8player) as a DMC with a Sony BDP-S580 as the DMR. I am able to play all my music when I use the BDP-S580 as a DMP, but when I attempt to operate in the above configuration, I get an Error 714 illegal mime type message at the DMC for any MP3 files. (note that MPEG 4 Audio (.m4a) files work in this configration without a hitch).
The protocol string that seems to fail is captured in a log file on my DMC:
http-get:*:audio/mpeg:DLNA.ORG_PN=MP3;DLNA.ORG_OP=01;DLNA.ORG_CI=0;DLNA.ORG_FLAGS=01700000000000000000000000000000\
So I understand from my research that any given file format may have one of several alternative mime types applied to it, and so I have tried to convince Sony that they should support any appropriate mime type for any given file format.
My questions are:
1) Is my understanding correct?
2) Is there some way to configure ReadyDLNA to apply an alternate mime type (I am supposing I can get the supported mimetype out of SONY support people)
3) Alternatively to the last question, should I expect to find a way to configure the SONY DBP to recognize the mimetype that the REadyDLNA is dishing out?
4) What do all the extra flags associated with the mimetype mean (i.e."DLNA.ORG_PN=MP3;DLNA.ORG_OP=01;DLNA.ORG_CI=0;DLNA.ORG_FLAGS=01700000000000000000000000000000") Alternatively where can I find a good reference on these DLNA flags?)
any help would be greatly appreciated,
Bill

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserThere is some info on the flags here: http://libdlna.sourcearchive.com/docume ... ource.html
DLNA.ORG_PN=MP3 signifies that use of the DLNA MP3 profile.
DLNA.ORG_OP=01 means that range is supported but time seek is not.
DLNA.ORG_CI=0 is a conversion indicator, saying that the media is not being transcoded.
From left to right, the flags that are set in DLNA.ORG_FLAG are streamingTransferModeSupported, backgroundTransferModeSupported, connectionStallingSupported, dlnaVersion15Supported - avpezAspirantThanks for the info and link.
Do you have any suggestions for a workaround to my problem? - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserI don't think the problem is the audio/mpeg mime type itself, it must be something else. For instance, maybe the Sony requires time seek.
Can you render the audio on the ipad with 8player? - avpezAspirantYes, both 8player and mediaconnect can render all my audio files as mediaplayers.
