Error "Netgear Storage is not accessible" when Factor Reset of Ultra 2

I have an old RNDU2000 (RND-2A is also written on the bottom). I had a Corrupt Root error. I have tried to do a Factory Reset. This gets to the setup promp in RAIDar ok.

Details:

ReadyNas  shows IP address of 192.168.0.68 (from RAIDar)

I have a Tesltra Arcadyn Smart Modem, with the following settings:

Local ip address of Modem: 192.168.0.1

Local Network Subent : 255.255.255.0

iMac IP address: 192.168.0.50

Modem has DCHP selected

DHCP Start address: 192.168.0.2

DHCP End address: 192.168.0.254

One disk inserted in the Drive. Lan connected to my Telstra router (left side port from back).

The Readynas was working on this setup before, but then had disk issues and then see the Corrupt Root Message. I have inserted an old disk, and RAIDar can see this disk, as when i trigger the factory reset (hold reset, power up, select from boot menu the LED on disk 1 and press reset), the RAIDar shows the Model ok, the name (nas-Co-B9-5E), and IP address (192.168.0.68).

When i go into the Setup button from RAIDar,  it comes with the menu to do the reset.I select "Expandable Volume(X-RAD2) and it gives the waring, then i hit next at it comes with message " Yuor Network Storage is not available from this computer. Check your network settings".

I have read a number of posts here, but still not clear why i would need to hcnage any of my router setting to adjust any IP address. Since the Readynas is not in serup, i cant get into the GUI for it.

Any help apprecited. I'd like to use this NAS again even with one disk just as a backup.

  • From your descripotion, I assume you are still running OS 4.2.x.  That only supports SMB1, whihc is diosabled by default in Win10.  I'm losing you a bit in your description of the sequence, but I think that you may need to enable SMB1.  RAIDar uses another method to find the NAS, so it would still work.

If you do end up having to start over, you may want to consider updating to OS6.

Can you try to ping the NAS after you get this message?

Have you tried browsing to https://192.168.0.68/admin ?

Sometimes a NAS will be unreachable briefly while it is formatting the disk(s).  That shouldn't last very long with only one disk installed (unless that disk isn't healthy).
