File permissions for new downloads

Hi

Im curretly having a problem with my ReadyNas 316 (6.4.2).  I am using CouchTunter and SABnzbd+ apps to download movies to a 'Completed' share on the NAS, and move them into a 'Movies' share on the NAS. This works as it should.  Files are automatically stored in the format MovieNameFolder/MovieNameFile.   However, there is a weird permission issue, which is causing me trouble.

The current 'Movies' share is configured through the Readycloud so that it allows me to read/write any files or subfolders.  However, every new file that is automatically moved to this share becomes read only and I cannot delete or rename the file from in my OS.  I've found that while i cannot edit the actual files within the MovieNameFolder, I can rename this folder itself.  What is the issue here, and are there anyways to prevent the files being set to read only?  I can reset the file permissions via the settings of the share folder which fixes all the sub-folders and files within.  However the issue persists for new files that are added.

In SABnzbd i have configured the 'Permissions for completed downloads' to '777'.

Any help would be appreciated.

The problem is likely because the file owner doesn't match the owner of the share.

Thankyou.  You may have been correct.  However i believe i have found the solution for anyone who happends to read this in the future.

Quite simply, i needed to set the CHMOD in CouchTuner to "777".  I had done this with SABnzbd+, but not CouchTuner.  Apparently is some kind of Unix thing.  I have no idea, and do not care about what any of it means but it works.

Manaully setting all this **bleep** up is **bleep** complicated to someone who is not an uber nerd and has next to no idea what anything means, but whatever, its all good.  I would have gladly paid for some kind of automated thingy that set all this stuff up in a wizard or guide.  I hope some dude out there is working on it.  A man can dream.

Among other things, that gives everyone the ability to read and write (and delete) the files.  Setting the ownership correctly would also have worked.

It can get complicated, esp. when you start installing third party apps.

I'm thinking that Netgear could do more to influence the quality of the apps.  For instance, it would be easy for them to allow users to review their apps, and have those reviews linked into the available apps page of the ReadyNAS.
