Thankyou. You may have been correct. However i believe i have found the solution for anyone who happends to read this in the future.
Quite simply, i needed to set the CHMOD in CouchTuner to "777". I had done this with SABnzbd+, but not CouchTuner. Apparently is some kind of Unix thing. I have no idea, and do not care about what any of it means but it works.
Manaully setting all this **bleep** up is **bleep** complicated to someone who is not an uber nerd and has next to no idea what anything means, but whatever, its all good. I would have gladly paid for some kind of automated thingy that set all this stuff up in a wizard or guide. I hope some dude out there is working on it. A man can dream.

Among other things, that gives everyone the ability to read and write (and delete) the files. Setting the ownership correctly would also have worked.

It can get complicated, esp. when you start installing third party apps.
I'm thinking that Netgear could do more to influence the quality of the apps. For instance, it would be easy for them to allow users to review their apps, and have those reviews linked into the available apps page of the ReadyNAS.
