Firmware 6.5.0 - Failure To Sync ADS Information - Users locked out of shared folders

Since updating to firmware 6.5.0 my ReadyNAS 3130 is unable to sync ADS information. ADS users and groups are no longer showing on the accounts page. All shares have lost group and user permissions causing users to be locked out of the shared folders.

Lots of messages on here about this... I called and they said they were aware of the problem and do not have a fix at this time.

If anyone has a qucik way to access data stored on the volume please let me know!

I need to copy everything off this ReadyNAS 3130 and throw it in the garbage!!!

Sick of the constant issues....  I'm done with Netgear...

  • I have been in contact with support for this issue and others. No resolution...

This latest firmware update breaking the ADS connection is the last straw for me with Netgear. The 6.5.0 update was supposed to fix the Anti-Virus scanner issue that caused the ReadyNAS units to respond extremly slowly if it all. Instead, it created an even bigger problem across my network where users could no longer access any of their data.

This has been ongoing for two weeks now with no resolution.

    That's unaccecptable!

I have migrated my data to other servers and purchased two new rackmount NAS. My Netgear 3130's are sitting on the floor waiting for the next trash pickup.

  • Hello stevecr25,

having the same problem, you should check the following:

    1. Have you tried to disable AD account caching? I have observed that you might have access to the folders after this step.

    2. Please logoff/logon on your windows machine after making changes on the AD settings of the Readynas. Otherwise, you might be unable to connect to the shares.

    3. You should check if you can redefine file access rights via windows to the required folders/files. With disabled AD accound caching, this should work

    4. If you have problems with the Userfolders automatically created by ReadynasOS, you could copy the content to a differnt share via the web admin frontend and set the user access rights again.

    Best regards

    Dirk

I have tried all of the above suggetions and none of them have worked. The unit will no longer sync ADS informaton, my AD users and groups are no longer associated with shared folders, users unable to access their data.

I was able to regain access by changing the authenticaion from Active Directory to Local Users. I changed permissions on the shares to allow anonymous access and everyone full control. Currently I am in the process of copying my data off the unit to another server.

As soon as this process is completed I'm shutting my ReadyNAS 3130 down and removing it from my server rack.

I was never given a case number for this particular issue... I do have an open case for a different problem, been waiting all day for a response to continue troubleshooting. It's currently 7:50PM on the East Coast of the US and my last contact with support at 8AM Eastern Time.

  • Has anyone got a fix for this yet, i also have the same issue after upgrading to version 6.5 on a 2120 NAS?

They got mine working again as well. However, we had our NAS on a scheduled restart every Sunday. When it restarted, it lost the fix that was applied. I had to have Netgear reapply the fix and then turned off my schedule restarts. Something to keep in mind until they release new firmware with a permanent fix.
