Virus protection certainly - that is something you could try turning off.
DLNA scans could get in the way, again that is something you can turn off (with DLNA share by share).
Snapshots don't lock files or folders, since with btrfs they are built into the file system at a low level. If you have a snapshot for a folder, what happens is that as you update a file the old version is copied to the snapshot ("copy on write").
You could try changing the names in the web ui, and see if that is more reliable for you than SAMBA.
