Folder Timestamps
I am wanting to backup some files from my Duo to my RN104.
There is a problem that for some folders the date/timestamp is changing to the time of the copy.
My approach was to firstly pull files using the RN104, first using rsync, then nfs, then Windows timestamp. (more processing power on the RN104)
After spotting the problem I had a test folder with 5 sub folders. One of the sub folders got the correct date, the other 4 did not
I then tried pushing the files from the Dou, using Windows Timestamp all folder names had the correct time so I started the backup overnight. Unfortunately, some of the folders still have current time. I suspect once the failure occurs it simply continues. The problem only occurs at the first subfolder level.
I'm running 6.6.0 on the RN104 and 4.2.13 on the Duo.
Is this a known bug, or is there something that can be changed to achieve the right result ?

The backup job failed last night due to "unknown reason"
Having examined the various folder properties it does appear that all the files have been copied, except for one folder where there is a one byte difference
I am now running an rsync job from the 104 to see if that will
a, progress to completion
b, fix the folder dates.
c, Get a perfect match on the folder bytes
I have noticed that the folder rates were wrong during a part of the copy process, about 45 out of 120 at the first subfolder level and then for the next 16 hours the times were correctly copied. I have also spotted that at least one file also copied with the current date rather than the historic date.
Is there anything else I can do to get comfort that that I have an accurate backup ?

When you say the timestamp is changed, do you mean the date modified or the date created? If it's the date modified, then the expected behavior (same as Windows does it) is that the timestamp will be updated if you put anything new in it (included "old" files copied anew).

Thanks very much for responding.
The default datestamp shown in windows explorer is date last modified. I have been looking around at tools which could allow me to systematically change the last modified date to the created date and it is both the created and last modified dates which are being changed.
I agree that if a new file is placed in a folder, the folder modified date will change, but that isn't what I think I am doing, all that is supposed to be happening is that a copy of what exists on one NAS is being replicated to another.
There is also the one file which has been changed as being modified with the current date, though having looked at some of the other files they have all being changed to a current created date, but retain the correct historic last modified and last accessed date.
I have previously done backups Duo > Duo and the backup has been a perfect replica of the original without any change to the timestamps. In fact I just checked an earlier backup of the date amended file on my second Duo and that matches with the source.
I remain confused and a bit concerned, after all a backup is supposed to be a copy, not a copy with a few amendments :smileyindifferent:
Edit:Just to be clear, the destination NAS, the RN104, has just been factory reset so there was no existing data
