From IPad 3 to apple tv 2
Please help:
I have Readynas ultra 2, using Buzz Player to play video on the new iPad and is fine. But when I AirPlay video from ipad to Apple TV to my TV, I only hear audio not the picture. What should I do to see the pictures? Anyone has the same problem?
Thanks for your help.

- sgpearmanAspirantI would have thought its a problem with Buzz player....I know Air Video works a treat
- chaufam2AspirantYes, it worked on Air Video but I have to leave my laptop on. How can I connect direct from iPad to my ReadyNas Ultra 2 without turn on my laptop?
Thanks for your help. - DuvelAspirantWith this question you really hit the jackpot...
I assume that the content that you are trying to play is not in the native apple format, but more like ordinary .avi and .mkv files?
It is possible to install the air video server software (v. 2.0.00) on the readynas ultra (also intall the ffmpeg sw 1.3 aka 2.0.00). Now you can conntect to the readynas ultra directly with only one problem => the movie stops every 5 seconds to load and convert. According to another forum member, this is caused by the processing power which is too low on the readynas ultra (he claimed that you needed the readynas pro at least)
==> This is a no go solution, unless somebody comes up with a great idea :-(, By the way, the Plex solution has the same issues as the air video solution, processing power too low.
A second solution which works fine for "lower resolution" movies (i'm speaking of a maximum of 1.5 GB avi files) is using the Oplayer HD (free version works great, but you have a small banner at the top of the page). You don't need to install anything on the NAS. Plays about everything (also large mkv's of 10 GB, but than it starts to stop frequently to capture and translate the strean). Make sure to increase the buffer size to its maximum (setting can be changed in the parameters and I believe that 20MB is the maximum buffert size) => If only this buffer size could be increased, this would be the ultimate solution!
Any other idea that you come up with to play movies directly from the readynas ultra on the ipad are highly appreciated. - chaufam2AspirantI have ReadyNAS Ultra 2.
Thanks for your help. Yes, I installed add on for Air Video and MMeg and it worked and stopped every 5 seconds as you said. How could we increase the processing power? No solution at all?
If I use Air Video Server with my laptop turns on, it works fine. Hope that there is a solution for processing power.
Thanks. - DuvelAspirantI'm afraid that there is no solution for the air video way of working, you can see my questions a few items lower than this one.
Another user said that the processor in the ultra series is way to slow for this kind of processing.
I checked yesterday the oplayer HD application. I stream (not download) movies directly from my readynas (ultra 4) to my Ipad 3 and this works like a charm up to 720p MKV's. 1080p is not really working yet unfortunately.
There is a free version, whick has almost all functionality as the paid version, so you can always try. On the forum "http://www.edavs.com/forum/" there are several items conserning apple tv connectivity.
I propose to follow that route. If you take the free version, it costs you nothing but the time to try it ;-)
Without wanting to advertis this program, it is the only app that I found that was able to stream directly from my nas with good results (but still with the exception of the 1080p mkv's). What i did not try yet is to download the 1080p movie and to play it from the ipad, but in my opinion, this is not the way to work when having a NAS, is it? - chaufam2AspirantI have a big problem. After installed Air Video to my ReadyNAS, it was not working as expected. I then removed the Air Video add-on. Problem occured. When I clicked on Media Share folder, I only saw AirVideo folder, nothing else. I checked the volume of the disk, disk space showed my files/movies were still there but I couldn't see them. I tried to transfer some file to check but it didn't allow me to do it. I called ReadyNAS Support and took 3 hours without solving the problem.
I could play movies on my ipad with guest sign in but when signing in with my user name and pw, I only see the Air Video folder, the same as I see them on Frontview.
Anyone have the same problem before and any solution for this?
Thanks for your help again.
