Genie Apps on new readynas 104 not installing?
Hi,
I bought a new Readynas 104 as soon as it became available, and am trying to install apps from the genie marketplace. The service is enabled, and I created an account on the website and logged in on the nas admin page.
I am presented with a list of apps. Now, if I click 'Buy' on an app like SABnzbd, it just sits there saying it is being installed and never completes. This happens for all apps.
Why does the link say Buy but not give you a price or ask you for any payment info? Am I doing something wrong?
Also the Genie marketplace website has not been updated to include the new 104 so it says I have no apps available there.
Can I purchase an app from somewhere like ReadynasXtras like I could on the Duo and install via the update function still? How does this work?
This new readynas range seems very rushed out, there are parts which obviously have not been updated to accommodate it!

- noleafclover133AspirantInteresting, yep no plex on the 102/4 yet. Thanks for sharing.
- Darth_VaderNETGEAR Employee RetiredPlex is not available on ARM-based platform at this time (102/104). We are working with Plex to deliver the ARM version soon. It is going to be a built-in app, so no purchase or download from Genie Marketplace are required.
- bajorgensenAspirantGreat! I think most people will understad if things are delayed.
It is all in the messaging and your interaction with your costumers.
Thanks for letting us know.
Is this a change in Netgear participation and communication on the forums? - FenterSpoonerAspirantDoes the Genie app store work at all with the new RN devices? I haven't been able to successfully install one application (Python, SABNZBD, Sickbeard). The website says it's installed, the RN says its installed (after you restart the freaking thing) and Python says its on. Try turning on Sickbeard or SAB and it thinks for a while and then just switches back to off. Looking in the apps directory on the RN (using SSH), I see that the apps actually appear to not be installed.
The whole point of an app store is click buy install. If I'm going to just have to manually install to get these installed I want my money back and I will buy directly from the author instead of using a middleman as they aren't providing any value.
Am I the only one that is seeing this? - FenterSpoonerAspirantanother note, if you decide to "uninstall" the app from the website, it disappears immediately from the installed apps tab on the RN. I guess it's pretty easy to uninstall an app that actually wasn't installed in the first place. :-) I'm clearing out the entries and will try again to see if I can get the experience to work.
- FenterSpoonerAspirantChirpa's apt-get installation process works perfectly.
- chirpaLuminaryThat is just the manual steps for what Genie is automating most likely, doesn't appear to be more than that.
Also funny to see Darth Vader, of the dark side, working on it ;) Jedi disappear and Sith show up. - Darth_VaderNETGEAR Employee Retired

Hi randomnut,
I think I PMed you a few days ago about your problem with purchasing apps. Just checking in to see if everything works for you now because I didn't hear back from you from the message.
By the way, you can check out these links on setting up your NAS with Genie and purchasing an app.

The dark side is always around you ;) - randomnut1ApprenticeHi,
No sorry in fact these things are getting worse.
I logged in today to find one one app started. If I go to apps-installed the page just hangs and does not show a list of installed apps.
All of these apps just seem to shut down after a time. I have tried rebooting and these issues are persisting even now.
I have replied to your PM, if you could take a look it would be appreciated.
When is the next firmware due?
