Home cloud storage like LIMA, but using my readyNAS duo RND2000 v2?
Hi,
Someone was telling me about home cloud systems, and I wondered if I can use my readyNAS duo RND2000 v2 to do this? I read about some beta software. I have windows 10 on my laptop, but not on my workstation.
Any advice on software would be great.

What firmware is your NAS running?
If you simply want to access your NAS while away from home, then another option is to upgrade to a router that includes openVPN. Netgear Nighthawk routers have this feature, and some router open source firmware (tomato and openwrt) also include it.
OpenVPN includes clients for Windows, Mac, iOS and Android. You'd enable the VPN connection on the remote device and get full access to your home network.

I'm asking about firmware to confirm your NAS model. A lot of v1 owners think they have a v2, because the labels are confusing. Duo v2s run 5.3.x firmware, Duo v1s run 4.1.x firmware.
There is a third-party OwnCloud add-on for both duo models at https://rnxtras.com/ (hosted by WhoCares_ ) There is a small charge. You'll need to make sure you choose the right download for your NAS.
Also, the duo v1 is an old (and by today's standards a slow) NAS. Performance with OwnCloud might not be very good.
