How do i share folders over WAN (NAS RN104)
I set the local ip of the NAS as a DMZ, so the ports should be open.
I have created users and folder and set permissions. (I am able map the folder for each user as a network drive in windows using the WAN ip) as soon as i get home i tried to do the same but it times out or something. I am able to access the configuration page no problem. We are on a good connection (comcast) and only a town apart.
What can i do ? i want to have users connecting to this NAS at work from home and be able to download or add files.

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserMany ISP block the ports used by Windows file sharing, including comcast. http://customer.comcast.com/help-and-su ... ked-ports/
I suggest using https and ftps - both of which are secure. Filezilla is a good client for ftps.
I also would not put the NAS in the DMZ. Instead of I only forward the ports that are needed. - infowireAspirantI guess i can teach everyone to use FTP, i could just use windows built in FTP should be able to share the folder. Just want this as simple as possible so i dont get too many phone calls.
I didn't even think about comcast blocking those ports, duh! Thank you. - infowireAspirantDownside of FTP, you need to download folder and then upload them.... this will confuse the users. i wish i can just edit things from the FTP folders through explorer.

Try NetDrive: http://www.netdrive.net/index.html - horim80Guidetry readynas remote. you can edit the file without download. it's a VPN.
or why don't you try to use readycloud.
