Expensive electricity is exactly why I got my ReadyNAS. Rather than add more hard drives to my existing server I am using my Raspberry Pi for most of my needs and then waking up the NAS once a day and backing up the Pi. Occassionally I might want to get something off the NAS that's not on the Pi. Hence needing wake it up remotely.
