How to backup/sync using FTP to ReadyNAS
Hello all, Here is my problem or need so to speak.. Will describe the setup first so we have everything as clear as possible. I've got a RN214 (ReadyNAS OS 6.5.1), with IP 192.168.10.1. I've ...

Are you using an FTP backup job or FTPS? Note that SFTP and FTPS are not the same.
Can you post a screen shot of the remote FTP settings used in the backup job?

HI Stephen,
First of all, thanks for taking the effort to look into this in the first place.
Below is a screenshot of the settings and the error this comes up with..
IP, username, password and path to media are correct and work like a charm in Filezilla Client.
The error is in Dutch and freely translates to English like:
Unable to connect to remote folder
Invalid networkname or access denied
The code is in numbers, I guess that is clear enough ;).
Hope this info helps a bit and enables you to help me out here.

Did you try taking away the first slash in the path (before media)?
Also, sometimes test connection misbehaves, so you might want to skip that and test the actual backup job.

Hi Stephen,
Yup, I've tried to omit the first / in the beginning of the path, but sadly enough that didn't solve the problem.
According to the log the job completes with out errors, but the biggest issue obviously is that it didn't transfer any files.. :(Now, I've done the following.
The reason I bought the RN214 was that I wanted to make sorting and datamoving life a bit easier by putting all my data from 2 separate 4TB RAID1 NAS-ses to just one RAID5 NAS with about 12TB.
I've revived one of my other NAS-ses (Netgear ReadyNAS Ultra 2), and added the exact same settings for the backup.
I've tried to leave the leading / away here, and also tried it with the /.
The logging of this backuptask is a whole lot more specific... Here it comes...
FULL Backup started. Mon Sep 5 09:10:31 PDT 2016
Job: 001
Protocol: ftp
Source: ftp://192.168.10.171/media/drive1/Video/Breakfast
Destination: [media]/
Error in server response, closing control connection.
Error in server response, closing control connection.
Error in server response, closing control connection.
unlink: No such file or directory
Backup failed. Mon Sep 5 09:10:34 PDT 2016.
Reason for failure:
Error encountered copying data from remote source path ftp://192.168.10.171/media/drive1/Video/Breakfast.
Hope this clarifies a few more things and helps you coming up with a solution :)

Hello,
Almost one week has gone, no further replies here.
I hope this is just coincidence and there are people actually looking into this, it would be a great thing if this will be working in the end. Thanks in advance!
