How to backup/sync using FTP to ReadyNAS
Hello all, Here is my problem or need so to speak.. Will describe the setup first so we have everything as clear as possible. I've got a RN214 (ReadyNAS OS 6.5.1), with IP 192.168.10.1. I've ...

Hi all,
Just out of curiousity...
Is there any news about progress on fixing this issue??
It would be appreciated when Netgear fixes the FTP Backup option so it actually will connect to this silly little bugger.. :)
If need be, I'm more then willing to test any suggestions if that helps in fixing this..
(fixing this would mean 'set and forget' instead of plugging in and out of cables for a manual backup...)
Hope to hear something soon..

To be clear, I don't work for Netgear so I have no idea about what's on their bug list. You might consider opening a support case at my.netgear.com.
Reading through your posts again, I am noticing some inconsistencies in the IP Addresses. The first post has the Humax as 10.168.10.2, the screenshot shows it as 192.168.10.171.

I just did an FTP backup with a remote ReadyNAS (6.6.0) to a ReadyNAS (6.6.1) and it works like a champ. If the source is on a remote ReadyNAS, the "Share" (called "Path" when you go back and edit settings) is just the share name (e.g Documents, not /data/Documents), so maybe that's your problem with the Humax. Try just "disk1".

Hello Sandshark,
Thanks for the suggestion, I do have to try this at home.
Would be great if this is the simple solution :)I'll let you know if there is any luck with that attempt.

When you access the humax server with filezilla (or other ftp clients) what folders are you seeing? That should help you sort out the path.

Hi StephenB,
Sorry for the slow reply..I knew that much that you're not working for Netgear, but any help is appreciated as stated earlier.
Please ignore any IP-inconsistencies in the text I typed, every now and then my fingers seem to be a lot bigger then I thought :)
For my own stuff at home I use only fixed IP's, only guest wireless is DHCP enabled.
All devices are on the same subnet which is.
IP: 192.168.10.[2-254]SN: 255.255.255.0
DG: 192.168.10.1The ReadyNAS (currently running version 6.6.1) is at 192.168.10.205, the Humax 192.168.10.171, PC1/2 and laptop (Wired NICs) are 192.168.10.110/111/112.
Any Wireless connections are either disabled on the clients or the client is configured to use LAN as primary connection (1 Gbps), wireless is just not reliable enough for a smooth job.
After the upgrade to 6.6.0 I tried to get the backup task configured but with no luck yet.
I'll have to try 6.6.1 and the (S)FTP backup task and will do exactly that either this evening or later on this week, depends a bit on how busy the box is...
I'll get back to you after the attempt to get it to run.
Regards,Demon666
