Indeed, sources.list.d seems to be a place where apps can put their own sources.list and not worry that an OS update will change them. On my VM with Docker installed, it's sources list is there, called docker-cli-rnapp.list. Don't do anything with them. You need to put apt.conf and the updated sources.list in /etc/apt.

Hello friends,
Thanks for finding a solution to the problem.
Unfortunately for me, i have followed the instructions but still get an error message - "apps operation failed" when I try to update my Plex.
I downgraded to 6.10.9, renamed the apt.conf.d to apt.conf.d.orig, renamed the sources.list that is already in the folder to sources.list.orig, added the mods to the /etc/apt folder and tried updating my Plex.
Please is there any step I am missing?
Sandshark StephenB any help will truly be appreciated.

Maybe try installing the deb file from ssh? That would give a more informative error.
You could also look in apt-install.log and apt-history.log in the log zip file, the error details should also be in there.
