How to download virus definitions when not connected to internet
Running a ReadyNAS 626 in an environment where there is no internet access. I would like to be able to manually move the antivirus definition files from a machine connected to the internet to my internal network.
Any suggestions?

Based upon what is running it appears that the AV is built on "clamav", I see that there is a download page at:
http://www.clamav.net/downloads
"If your network is segmented or the end hosts are unable to reach the Internet, you should investigate setting up a private local mirror. If this is not viable, you may use these direct download links: main.cvd | daily.cvd | bytecode.cvd"
I wonder if it is as simple as just putting these files in correct place on the ReadyNAS from time to time.
From the ClamAV manual:
The default location for these database files are /usr/local/share/clamav (in Linux/Unix).
Here is a listing of currently available ClamAV Virus Database Files:• bytecode.cvd (signatures to detect bytecode in files)
• main.cvd (main ClamAV virus database file)
• daily.cvd (daily update file for ClamAV virus databases)
However, it appears that the database must be stored elsewhere as there is no such directory in /usr/local/share
If someone has this up and running on the internet can you take a look and see where the system is putting them? Hopefully it will be as simple as putting the files in the right location and then the AV system will be off and running.
Looks like it should be stored in
/var/lib/clamav
However, there is nothing in the directory by default so I am not sure if there is a needed directory structure below that or just dropping the files into that directory will be sufficient.
