Folks,
I can confirm this situation. I received my new Duo v2 middle of June, installed it right away and found it updating the firmware to 5.3.5 right away.
I configured the system to shutdown for the night hours and get back up before me in the morning. This worked flawlessly, until...
...one night a serious thunderstorm was approaching [it's an awful summer in Germany these days, I haven't seen the pool once this year :-( ] and I unplugged all of my electronic stuff like I usually do. So I was shocked to find the very next evening that the unit was bricked - no way of getting it back to life. I chose to DIY via battery removal and got it back up again.
Of course I avoided using the power schedule feature ever since - until recently I saw this thread. I went and checked my version and found
Netgear version: Uboot-1_1_4-NetgearDUOV3-V1006
So I did as mdgm proposed and installed 5.3.5 manually again, found the version increased to V1008 and now I am willing to try the power schedule again.
But, and this goes out to anyone responsible for implementing and testing the firmware, please:
I've been a really satisfied user of a Duo v1 for more than three years, as it just worked and did what I expected it to do.
But unless the ReadyNAS team is willing to burn its loyal customer base, please get a grip on things like this one above. I mean, what good is a firmware update if it is only happening in parts? In my opinion, this is a serious quality issue and you can't let the guys testing this stuff get away with it.
