How to format USB drive in ReadyNas Pro 2?
So, I am getting an external USB drive for doing backups.
Do I need to format the drive before I connect it? Or will I be able to do that through front panel (or command line).
Also, what format would be best (don't plan to connect to computer).

How do I manage USB storage devices on my ReadyNAS Ultra series, Ultra Plus series, NVX Pioneer, or Pro Pioneer storage system?
:D :D :D - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredEXT4 would probably be best.
- ScottChapmanApprenticeThanks, is that available from frontview? (running latest firmware)
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredYes. EXT4 was added as an option in 4.2.22. You should see it as an option to format USB disks along with FAT32 and EXT3.
- ScottChapmanApprenticeAwesome-o Thanks!
- ScottChapmanApprenticeI am not seeing great performance writing to my EXT4 drive (ESATA). I am getting around 4MB/sec which seems about an order of magnitude less that I was getting with NTFS. It is a 3TB drive
(this is actually on my 316 running 6.2.1) - ScottChapmanApprenticeOK, venturing a guess that it's related to barrier=1 in the mtab. Any thoughts?
(drive it attached to same UPS as the ReadyNAS) - ScottChapmanApprenticereformatting in EXT3 and calling it a day...
