How to restore default shares?

Hi, I have a new readynas 516.   I prepared a RAID 6 volume and in the process of setting that up I had to delete the original volume.  My setup is working ok but I lost all the default shares.

Do I need to do a factory reset to get them back or is there an alternate way to bring the default shares back?   On a related note I lost all the user folders, so do I neeed to delete the users and set them up again to let the ReadyNAS re-create the user folders?

I didn't have a backup since this is a brand new setup.  I assume a factory restore will bring it all back (except for the users) but just curious if there's a way to do that without one.

  • User folders should be recreated as each user accesses the NAS (via file explorer or finder) with their user credentials.

On default shares, therei's no automatic way to recreate them. There is nothing special about them, so you can just manually recreate the ones you use.
