How to set up a UPS
Im no networking expert and have hardly any idea what I am doing. First off i would like to know how to how to set up my APC 550VA. Will it work if i just pass the ethernet from the modem to my Netgea...

The pass-through is for a telephone line, not an Ethernet cable.

Yes, use the USB. The UPS should have come with a special cable: USB A connector on one end, 8P8C connector (Ethernet connector) on the other. Connect that cable between the correct port on the UPS and one of the USB ports on the NAS.

The UPS should be automatically recognized; it won't be using the SNMP protocol, so you won't need to enter an SNMP address.
