Thanks Stephen, I've found a few posts about the factory reset before I eventually joined the forum. But I can't reach the point where I get any kind of RAID option. Also I'm confused about the timing sequence here as manual pg# 19 says may take several hours!.
So ..starting from an activated device and pressing the little reset pin on the back with a pen, what 'should' happen next in the sequence? I say this because I never get ANY option and it just settles out like I've described in my OP.
