iMac drops connection to Readynas device

I have 3 readynas devices connected via ethernet to a switch. My iMac is connected to the switch as well. The iMac sees all 3 readynas devices in finder. When I open finder and navigate to a .m4v video file on the nas, I can drag the name into iTunes. At this point iTunes can play the video and the icon next to the video file in finder is the first frame of the video. After about 10 minutes, the finder window changes from displaying the folder to displaying the root folder. The file in iTunes now displays with a '!' next to it and if I click on the file name in finder, nothing happens. It's almost as if the computer had temporarily lost its connection to the nas.

Any ideas?

Is it possible that you have an IP address conflict between the Windows system and the NAS?
  • I updated my firmware and ran the OSX script as described above. No luck. If the drive "isn't there" I get an error.
  • So I have the same problem as everyone else with my Mac. I have a ReadyNAS NV that works fine, no connections are dropped at all. When I moved over to my Pro 6, I drop connections quite a bit. I'm always getting errors from my Timemachine saying it failed to back up. I have the latest firmware. I'm using AFP also. It's weird, after a few minutes it will come back.
