Inaccessible Duo v1 after firmware upgrade - SOLVED!

Hi,

I hope someone can help me here.

I've been having some minor problems with my Duo v1 so yesterday decided to do a firmware upgrade overnight via the option in frontview. When I turned on my PC this morning I was unable to see my duo in network places. Looking at the Duo, all of the lights were on, as usual. I forced a shutdown via the power button and then rebooted the Duo. However I am still unable to access the Duo.

Symptoms:
No other changes to my network or other hardware has been made recently
Raidar cannot find the Duo
I cannot access Frontview via IE or Chrome
Readynas is not showing in network places
Pinging the ip address correctly finds the Duo
The power light flashes about 48 times then goes out. The act light flashes once. The disks make some noise. Then the cycle repeats.
This has been going on for about 3 hours now.

Any help or advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

  • An update.

Firstly, thanks to mdgm for their help via PM. :)

My NAS has rebooted at last and it seems (at least in part) to have been an issue with a failing drive so this is going to get replaced ASAP. I've managed to regain access to Raidar and frontview, however I'm unable to access any of the shares via CIFS. As a stop gap, I have enabled access via HTPP/S and I can see all of my shares and have limited access to my files.

    So the current state of play is that;

I can see my shares via HTTP/S only
I can see my readynas media server in Network places
I am unable to see my Readynas in network places
I am unable to map a network drive to \\ip address\share (Error: A device attached to the system is not functioning)

I'm running Windows 8 and no recent changes have been made to the system or to the Duo.

I'm hoping that I can access my files via CIFS and back them up prior to replacing the failing drive so any help would be much appreciated.
  • Further update.

I've rebooted both the NAS and my PC and everything seems accessible again. I had made a few minor changes to remove guest access to my shares and such like but no major changes or anything to the security or connection settings. So unfortunately I can say why this is now working, suffice to say that I'm pleased it is!
