Inaccessible files that survive formatting

I had one drive but went to two. That's why I am reformatting.
The folders that I see are various remnants of what I had before. The NAS has two main shares (I cannot remember if this is by default or if I set them up): Media and Backup. Backup seems fine but media has several subfolders that will not go away. When I browse Here are a few things I have noticed that may help (I hope):
1. right click-properties says files are read only. unchecking the read only box and clicking apply seems to work but when I right click on the same file it still says read only.
2. When trying to delete directly my PC says that I don't have permission
3. When going into Frontview->shares and clicking delete on those shares (media and backup) then clicking apply = does nothing
