Ok, then enable https for media. Then go to https://nasname/shares and try deleting the folders there.

Are you accessing media as a mapped network drive (e.g. is there a drive letter)? If not, how are you accessing the folder from your PC?

Also, if you are using Windows, try going into the control panel and clicking "sync center". Then click on "manage offline files", and see if offine files are enabled or not.
Actually I suspect they are not on the NAS, but are in an off-line cache on your PC.
