Incomplete Frontview - reinstall firmware

Hi guys,
New on the forum, but have run an NV+ v1 for few years, to date no problems. But here we go.
Installed a new BT5 homehub router, and on next reboot get an incomplete view of Frontview. Tried OS reinstall, but Frontview still comes up incomplete. Tried two browsers and no difference. Files still accessible and I'm trying to figure out what to do next that doesn't lose my data.
Can anybody help? Thanks, Mark

So you don't have a backup?

What do you see in the Info (far right) column in RAIDar?

You should backup your data, at least the most important files as the first step.
  • Hi mdgm,
Thanks for the assist. Yes I have backup, mostly I use the NAS as a domestic media server and back up for a couple of windows machines. I could wipe it and start again, but if the data is there I'd prefer not to.
    Info column is showing 4.1.13.

Did you have any add-ons installed?

    Can you post a screenshot?
  • Don't think I have any add-ons, and the OS reinstall has probably put it all back to standard. Posting a screenshot doesn't seem straightforward. Are there any instructions on the site?

So it's working now after the OS re-install?

You can use a site such as imageshack.com and paste the forum code (though with a small post count the forum code might not work until your post count increases a little).
  • No, sorry that isn't what I meant - after the OS reinstall it was the same. Any other ideas? Is there a way to re-install the firmware without Frontview?

You can do an OS reinstall from the front panel (not sure if that is what you did or not). That will reset your admin password (to netgear1) and also set your IP configuration to automatic (dhcp). It won't hurt your data.

You can of course also do a factory reset from the front panel, which will destroy your data, and require you to rebuild the NAS from scratch.

Details on both procedures are here: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/ ... 6Dec11.pdf pages 23-24.

Did you log into the NAS shortly before the router swap? Just wondering if you are sure that the problem is related to the router change.
