indexing and search on Windows

Afternoon.

Is is possible to index the new ReadyNAS RN214 to Windows 7 or 10 and add folders from it as a library location?

Thanks

    Hello ben070,

    Welcome to the community!

Not sure what exactly you are asking but ReadyNAS shares can be mapped on Windows and assign a drive letter for it so you can access it easily.

Indexing it isn't possible with all versions of windows.  But it can be added to the library (in win 7 at least) using the following:

To create a symbolic link to your network folder and add it to your library:

      1. Create a local folder anywhere on your computer. (ex: C:\symlinks\Documents)
      2. Add the local folder to the library.
      3. Delete the folder created in step 1. Do not remove it from the library.
      4. Open a command prompt as an Administrator. (In the Start search box type “cmd”, right click the entry and click Run as Administrator)
      5. Type the following in the command prompt: mklink /d “C:\symlinks\Documents” “\\MyNAS\NetworkFolder” (changing the names of course, remember your local folder comes in the first set of double quotes, and your network path comes in the second set of double quotes!)
