Infrant X6 bootloader failure
Hello. I have an original Infrant X6 (purchased from Infrant) that was running 4.1.8 just fine. I replaced it with an NV+ and attempted to reset the old X6 back to factory defaults through the web GUI and it failed - the blue light was on but the NAS was unresponsive to any request from RAIDar for hours. I reset the NAS's power and when it came up it registered the error, "Boot loader fails to locate valid RAIDiator image". I pulled the flash and performed a rewrite of the 4.1.8 image and now the error comes up "RAIDiator image does not match NAS platform, contact tech support to convert OEM NAS to ReadyNAS". Is there a different OS image that I need to download given that my X6 is the original Infrant model?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Best regards,
Ryan

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredSo you purchased the X6 from Infrant, not a rebranded version of it?
- imzeek2u1AspirantYes, it was purchased direct from Infrant but doesn't seem to support the Netgear .img. Any idea where I might find a restore image that might work? Are there any markings that I can reference on the board that might help to identify it better? I tried the 4.1.6 firmware too and the result is the same as I stated above.

If so, sounds like you might need to wait and see if a Jedi has some suggestions. - dbott67Guide
- chirpaLuminarySounds like it was an OEM, USModular/Momitsu/Snazio/etc.
Steps to get around that is to put older 2.x firmware on it, install Fix Vendor ID add-on, reboot twice, re-upgrade to 4.x.

Add-on: http://www.readynas.com/download/addons ... ID_0.1.bin - imzeek2u1AspirantThanks everyone! The old links to infrant.com are dead, but I found another link to "RAIDiator-2.00c1-p5". I'll try that and see if I can get 'er up and running again. I'll report back later. Thanks again. :)
- imzeek2u1AspirantThe installation of 2.00c1-p5 went well. I had problems trying to update to 4.1.8 from any Mac browser - it would just sit with the hourglass showing forever; never asking to proceed with the installation. I tried it from a Windows XP system I had in a VM and that worked for the installation of 4.1.8 from the web gui. However, despite 4.1.8 showing as running in RAIDar, the NAS doesn't respond to requests for the admin interface via any browser now; Mac or Windows. I can mount the SMB shares fine, just can't get into the web interface.
Any thoughts on this? Thanks again for all of the information! - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredDid you install the Fix Vendor ID add-on?
- imzeek2u1AspirantYes, but I also had to do a factory defaults reset through the GUI because the media and backup volumes were missing after the initial install. Does this remove the add-on or should it have still been applied? I assume the fix was OK because 4.1.8 was able to be installed, right?
- dbott67GuideI think the vendor fix was a one-time installation. You should be to upgrade in the future without issue.
